History of Kick Boxing

Kickboxing is a sport that has many similarities with other martial arts, such as full contact karate, Thai Muay Thai or French Savat, although the art with which it has the most connection (and parallel course of development in recent years) is clearly Thai Muay Thai. The history of kickboxing dates back to the 1960s and 1970s in the USA, from the first full-contact karate bouts, while the term "kickboxing" was probably coined by a Japanese tournament organizer, who in the 1950s wanted to transfer to his country the Muay Thai matches he had seen in Thailand. In any case, the sport spread throughout the world, regardless of the rest of the fighting traditions of each country, and even today it maintains a large part of the popularity it experienced at that time and attracts numerous interested parties to its gyms. As its name suggests, kickboxing includes techniques from classical boxing as well as kicks – the range of punches and kicks is determined by the rules of each federation and each event. In both practice and competition, athletes wear protective gear and the goal is, as in boxing, to score points or neutralize the opponent by knockout or knockdown. Although it is clearly a sport and therefore of interest to younger practitioners who see the possibility of participating in a competitive event, there are not a few who choose to join a kickboxing gym in anticipation of learning a method of self-defense; the reasoning in cases these are that the effectiveness of the sport is proven in competition (in and out of the gym) and is therefore more realistic than a martial art that runs on "theory". One way or another, however, kickboxing has managed to find its place on the world stage of combat sports and remains high in the preference of many practitioners.

Kick Boxing Equipment

Protective helmet In the case of the protective mask, an extensive analysis of its importance is not needed. The protective helmet is worn by the athlete to protect his head from blows that his classmate may inflict on him during training. 10OZ Contact Gloves Gloves are a basic requirement for a student-athlete of kick boxing to be able to participate in training. In addition to the countless models, brands and designs from which you can choose a pair of gloves, there is one guide that, among others, you must take seriously and it is none other than the size of the glove. Magnets Next on the list of equipment you should get are walking sticks, to protect the shins (shins) of your feet. In the case of the straws, we could say that they are obtained primarily to protect your classmates during training and then to protect your own legs (shins). Safety shoes & knee pads Safe shoes and knee pads, although they protect different parts of the leg, we have included them in the same category in the sense that they complement the protection provided by the straw to the leg. The patella does not need a special mention as it is well known where it provides protection. The safe shoe protects the area of the bunion (metatarsal bones) on the bottom of the foot. Many athletes, very wrongly, are satisfied with the protection provided by the extension of the cane, with many finding the usefulness of the safe in the event of an injury to the metatarsal or toes. The safe shoe also provides extra protection in the heel area, not so much to the wearer but to the one receiving a kick where his technique requires the heel to hit the target. Even with extremely mild power a heel kick is a very painful blow. Denture This is the smallest and cheapest piece of equipment one can buy. But it is also the most important thing that will allow you to keep smiling! Bandage In addition to your gloves, you should also get a pair of bandages. Bandages for those who don't know are a very large piece of fabric tape that the student-athlete wraps their hands with for extra protection of the wrist and metacarpal bones. Passover The male or female spasuare is the equipment that protects the genitals from incorrect execution of the technique. Uniform Your uniform is the first thing you should get and it needs to be in proportion to the style you wish to follow (shirt, trousers or shorts with the Club's insignia).
