History of Cheerleading
In the 1880s, the atmosphere at Princeton University's American football games led its students to form a male student pep club, which aimed to support their teams through slogans and cheers from the entire team at the same time. . By 1889 pep clubs, cheers, cheers, and even "fight songs" continued to flourish in many schools and universities throughout the United States. to inspire and motivate their fans. For the first 25 years of his life Cheerleading was an all-male activity. 1923 was the year the University of Minnesota introduced its first female cheerleaders at its athletic games. Although women continued to participate as cheerleaders in various parts of the United States after 1923, it was not until the 1940s that women became the majority on cheerleading teams, at a time when male college students left the country to fight in the Second World War. Not long after, cheerleaders began adding improved techniques and drills to get spectators fired up at games. In 1974 Jeff Webb founded the World Cheerleading Association (UCA) to teach a higher level of skill to cheerleaders throughout the United States. Acrobatics and pyramids were introduced to make Cheerleading more fun. The new era for Cheerleading has begun. In 1980 Jeff Webb founded the World Dance Camps primarily for drill teams. Thus in 1990 the World Dance Union (UDA) was created. They coined the term "Dance Teams" to better express the range of styles performed by the athletes. In 1982, the World Cheerleading Association and the World Dance Association organized the 1st National Cheerleading and Dance Team Championships. In 2004, the USA All Star Federation (USASF) and the International All Star Federation (IASF) held the 1st World Cheerleading Championships at the Walt Disney World Resort. In 2006, the ICU (International Cheerleading Confederation) was founded, which was recognized by SportAccord in 2013, while in 2014 it was accepted by FISU (World University Sports Federation). In 2011, the official annual report on sports safety in the United States was released, with Cheerleading ranked as the 2nd safest sport, after swimming.

Benefits of Cheerleading
CHEER-LEADING (Sports Team Dance) VALUABLE CONTENT OF THE SPORT OF CHEERLING THAT MAKES IT UNIQUE IN IMPORTANCE IN GREECE 1. In the fight against violence in sports venues 2. In the fight against bullying in the learning spaces 3. In the fight against physical and racial discrimination 4. To increase the individual self-esteem of the person involved in the sport 5. In its positive effect on reforming the school climate 1. SHOWING POSITIVE BEHAVIOR AND EMOTIONS The only sport whose object is the expression of positive behavior in training and in the match and this is counted in the grading of the athletes!!! What makes our sport special is that the display of positive sportsmanship and image is awarded more points. Learning this positive sports behavior and image and its continuous group mutual support cultivates positive body language in sports children. This positive body language in the future will play a huge role in all kinds of exams (school - university - everyday as a person accepted in society), as well as in their professional success, as it is one of the main estimated criteria for recruitment and individual professional success in the liberal professions. The younger they learn to be positive, the more they cultivate this positive attitude in life into adulthood. 2. ALL ATHLETES ARE EQUALLY IMPORTANT With continuous participation in the team, each athlete acquires responsibility towards his fellow athletes, as everyone participates decisively and decisively in the team's overall score picture. This responsibility cultivates and continuously increases each athlete's confidence and self-confidence, since he/she must constantly deal with the improvement of his/her personal image, at the same time as the team image. This constantly cultivated self-confidence develops, with the athlete's (her) adulthood, into a professional leadership ability of both himself (her) and the team that participates in his (her) professional life. Also by participating in the competition team without changes, the athlete comes out of exclusion, loneliness and marginalization and thus tackles shyness, school anxiety, feelings of insecurity, phobias, and school refusal he is no longer afraid to act in his best for the team and for himself and turns into a creative person responsible for the team the sport cultivates a cooperative climate that has a positive effect on the school. 3. HIGH SELF-ESTEEM AND SELF-WORTH The cheerleader takes care of his/her general appearance and image, because he/she loves himself/herself. The clothes are beautiful and their colors are vivid, the face exudes taste and care, the hair is always well-groomed and positively supports the beautiful image of the whole face. Doing dance and gymnastics is the perfect combination of doing sports that makes the body fit and lively. 4. IN CHEERLING EVERY BODY TYPE COMPETES AND OFFERS, CONSEQUENTLY THE FIGHT AGAINST BULLYING. In our sport every body type can participate in the competition teams as it supports the part of the program that the team needs to perform. Each body type (thin, medium, full) better supports and performs exercises that other body types cannot perform as well. This is how the body type that would have no chance in any sport can become a Champion. Also, due to the peculiar rule of the sport, where people who have resided in the country for more than 6 months are allowed to participate freely in national teams, regardless of whether they have the citizenship of the country, people of all social and racial origins participate in a group, enabling cooperation and mutual respect, especially between students of different racial and social origins, people of all body types participate in a team, giving the possibility of self-esteem, especially to students who have been mocked by their classmates, with the result that their classmates eventually admire them because of their athletic success, due to the participation of music in the sport, the mental tension is positively relieved through the positive interaction of the team, "noble competition" finds outlets for positive expression, and thus a positive climate of enthusiasm is created in the school, creative imaginative play (constant and perpetual choice of positive sportsmanship by team members during training with the help of the coach) is cultivated through team socialization and positive skills for positive socialization. 5. CHEERLING INTEGRATED WITH ART The sport has not only an athletic but also an artistic interest as it combines dance with gymnastics and artistic talents with physical abilities. A direct consequence of this is the appeal of the sport to both the art-loving and the sports-loving public, who will either follow it or watch it. 6. COMBINATION OF CHEERLING WITH ANY OTHER SPORT TO COMBAT VIOLENCE IN SPORTS AREAS Cheerleading is the only sport that can co-exist with any other sport, as its cheering character can help boost the morale of a variety of sports teams, pleasantly excite all types of audiences and provide a spectacle worthy of admiration, thanks to the 'marriage » of the athletic dynamics and artistic aesthetics that make it up. That is why in developed sports countries abroad, Cheerleading is a basic sport in school sports. THE RESULT OF ENGAGEMENT IN THIS SPORT FOR THE ATHLETE IS: The internalization of the rules of the positive social model. and then the externalization of the positive social model in all his social behavior.
